Silvia Gil, her fiancé Jorge, her brother Angel and girlfriend Zayra were standing on the corner of Ontario and Wabash as they went to dinner on Saturday night when Chicago police said a dark-colored Chevy sedan had hit a silver Toyota Prius. The Chevy then slammed into the two couples, leaving all four seriously injured.
“My brother was, he got dragged around with the car for a bit, and then my sister and her fiancé also got thrown out,” said Crystal Gil, sister of the victims.

Silvia was seven months pregnant and seriously injured.
“How could you leave a pregnant woman on the floor? You know, I understand you’re scared because of what happened, but a pregnant woman. She is obviously pregnant,” Crystal said.
She underwent an emergency caesarean section and her baby boy, born a few weeks early, is now fighting for his life.
“All we could do was pray for him,” his aunt said. “It’s a tragic way to come into the world. Nobody wants to come into the world in a horrible situation like that.”
A man and woman in the Prius were also taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Chicago police said three people in the sedan fled the scene.
“Have a heart. Just go, at least for the sake of the baby,” Crystal Gil said.
The victims’ injuries range from broken bones to serious head and internal injuries, but Silvia in particular has a long way to go to recover. Her sister said she might need spine surgery.
No one is currently in custody. A Chicago police investigation is ongoing.
