Riot Games has confirmed the theft of League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics source codes.

As Video Games Chronicle reports, a social engineering attack resulted in the theft of source codes for League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics. As a result, Riot received an email detailing a ransom, which the studio says it won’t pay. Fortunately, Riot assures players that their personal information is not compromised. The source code “may increase the likelihood of new cheats emerging”, but also includes “a number of experimental features”. “We are committed to transparency and will publish a full report in the future detailing attackers’ techniques, areas where Riot’s security checks have failed, and the steps we are taking to ensure this doesn’t happen again,” Riot wrote.

In addition to League of Legends’ source code, an unannounced spin-off was leaked online on January 14. A South Korean video game rating board has appeared to reveal Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story. According to the rating chart, the title may follow Sylas, a former Mageseeker, as the protagonist in his quest to “save Demacia.” Mage Seeker will supposedly be released on PC and console platforms and will have a parental rating for ages 12 and up. Mage Seeker is Riot’s third A history of League of Legends game if the rumors turn out to be true. The previously launched studio Runedified king and Hextech Mayhem in November 2021.

Following Sylas’ difficulties due to his magical powers, he became a rogue mage with a vengeance. Similar to another famous game protagonist in Castlevania’s Simon Belmont, Sylas uses chain whips in combat. Sylas also starred in a Marvel Comics series alongside fellow Demacian mage Lux.
