Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene shared details of new rules that will govern the House of Representatives when Republicans take charge on Tuesday.

The proposed rules, which are due to pass Jan. 3, include a resolution to create a subcommittee to investigate “the militarization of the federal government” under President Joe Biden’s administration.

The new GOP majority will first have to elect a president on Tuesday before passing the rules package and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy has used the rules as a way to make concessions to members who oppose upon his election as President.

“We’re so serious, this isn’t just a goal, it’s a rule,” Greene tweeted Sunday, and added what appeared to be a quote from the ruleset: “Establish the select subcommittee on the militarization of the federal government to investigate the full extent of the Biden administration’s assault on the constitutional rights of American citizens.”

The resolution establishing the rules for the 118th Congress is currently available on the House website, but the 55-page document does not specifically mention Biden, but rather describes a resolution “establishing a select subcommittee on the militarization of the federal government in as a select investigative sub-committee”. of the Judicial Committee”.

The final text of the House rules will be available on Tuesday and will be put to the vote after a speaker has been elected. It was feared that McCarthy would not have enough votes to win the presidency on the first ballot and his allies would brace for multiple ballots.

McCarthy used the rules package to try to make concessions to House Republicans who might not support his presidential bid and he sent a “Dear Colleague” letter to fellow Republicans ahead of Tuesday’s vote.

The investigation into the Biden administration is expected to take the form of a “church-like” committee – a reference to a 1975 Senate select committee that investigated intelligence agencies and was chaired by Sen. Frank Church.

In his letter to Republicans, McCarthy called it “a church-style select committee focused exclusively on exposing the government’s militarization against our citizens, basically.”

Greene, who is backing McCarthy for president, also suggested in a tweet Sunday that the Republican-led House could bring articles of impeachment against President Biden.

Greene has long called for Biden to be impeached and she said in November “We will impeach Biden with evidence. It will be easy,” as she told a rally ahead of the midterm elections that if Republicans win the House “we would impeach Joe Biden.”
