Iran’s Defense Minister issued a statement on the third anniversary of the assassination of General Qassem Soleimani by the United States, reaffirming the armed forces’ commitment to revenge for the terrorist attack.

Mohammad Reza Ashtiani said in the statement that the Iranian armed forces would never give up on avenging the assassination, promising that the terrorists would surely pay for their crime.

Ashtiani added that the perpetrators will be targeted at a time and place they would not imagine and the Islamic Republic will decide when that happens.

Meanwhile, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), in a separate statement, called the promise of revenge for the assassination of the leading counter-terrorism icon certain and inviolable.

The IRGC hailed the lieutenant general’s efforts to secure Iran’s “strategic depth”, extending to the “borders” of Israel.

The force said it is closely monitoring developments in the region and threats to the resistance front and will ensure that US troops leave the West Asia region promoting the late general’s ideas.

General Soleimani was assassinated in a US drone strike near the international airport in the Iraqi capital Baghdad on January 03, 2020.
