Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) said on Thursday that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government led by Bhagwant Mann has not taken action against those few elements who are trying to taint the atmosphere by trying to polarize people’s thoughts on religious lines and disturb the peace and communal harmony in the State.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, former minister and SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia said people were worried about these elements, who spit venom against the religion of others and try to disturb the peace in the state.

He said Mann was adopting double standards in taking action against such elements. He said that although defendant Sandeep Singh Sunny has been arrested in the murder case of Shiv Sena (Taksali) leader Sudhir Suri, no action has been taken against those who burned down Hardeep Singh’s shop. , Sunny’s brother, and spoke out against the Sikhs. community.

Sunny reportedly shot Suri with his licensed gun in Amritsar earlier this month.

Majithia said the law of the land is equal for everyone and there cannot be two sets of laws for one community or the other. He said protection should be given to everyone. He demanded the safety of Hardeep Singh and Sunny’s brother Mandeep Singh.

He said Hardeep Singh filed a complaint on November 10 over the burning of his store by unscrupulous elements, but no action has been taken against the culprits to date.

Majithia said: “Hardeep Singh is not involved in Suri’s murder, but he was the target of the wrath of such unscrupulous elements.”

There is CCTV footage of “some people throwing rocks at shops, using gasoline from a bicycle to burn down the shop, someone using foul language against Sikhs and beating a youth on the spot. , but no action has been taken against them,” he added.

During the press conference, Hardeep Singh said, “Our family is peaceful and religious in nature. We have always lived in harmony with each other. There are Hindu boys working in our store. We don’t deal only with Sikhs. Many of our clients are Punjabis. »

Majithia said the AAP government should not discriminate on the basis of religion but should instead work to ensure community peace and harmony in the state.

MCD polls: SAD will support party that fights for the release of Sikh prisoners

In the upcoming Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections, the SAD will support the party by pledging to work tirelessly for the release of Sikh prisoners, its Delhi leader Paramjit Singh Sarna said on Thursday.

“We have decided to support those who promise to work with the utmost commitment for the release of Bandi Singhs,” Sarna said in a statement.

Sarna said: “The Sikh community has seen how the seven convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case walked free after 30 years in prison. If the power of the state gave in to Tamil feelings, there is no reason why it should not give in to Sikh feelings when Bandi Singhs was released. We must refine our strategy in order to obtain an honorable release of Sikh prisoners. We need to make everyone realize how valuable our support is.

He said Delhi is home to the largest population of Sikhs of any metropolitan city in India.

“We will call on Sikh voters to vote in Delhi for those who officially declare to work for the Bandi Singh cause,” Sarna said.
