A sheriff’s officer arrested a man, who had a gun and knives, after seeing him punch a motorcyclist during a road rage incident near Barrington, officials said.

The incident happened around 3:50 p.m. Tuesday in the 1200 block of the Southwest Freeway in Barrington Township.

A Cook County Sheriff’s Police officer on patrol saw a man punch another man, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office.

The officer pulled over and took the man, identified as Farid Sagidov, 40, of Quitman, Texas, into custody.

The officer learned that Sagidov was involved in a road rage incident.

Sagidov allegedly wouldn’t allow the 49-year-old victim, who was on a motorcycle, to merge in front of his pickup truck, the sheriff’s office said.

After taking him into custody, sheriff’s officers searched Sagidov’s vehicle.

They recovered a firearm with a loaded magazine, two additional loaded magazines and two knives.

Sagidov does not have a firearms owner identification (FOID) card or a concealed carry permit, the sheriff’s office said.

Sagidov was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, a Class 4 felony, as well as misdemeanor assault and reckless driving causing bodily harm.

A judge set Sagidov’s bond at $5,000 during a hearing on Wednesday. He has since been released.
