Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) is very busy in Coronation Street at the moment. Not only did he start high school, but he also started writing and sending letters to someone.
2022 for Sam was about moving forward in his life, after the death of Natasha (Rachel Leskovac).
The young boy suffered from speechlessness after his mother was shot by Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor) and was unable to communicate with Nick (Ben Price) about his emotions for months.
One thing Sam has used to help him is his love for chess.
Thanks to Roy (David Neilson), Sam’s passion for the game has grown even stronger, and after a few competitions, he’s using his knowledge to talk about chess to his classmates at a school presentation next week.
At the suggestion of Hope (Isabelle Flanagan), Sam pretends he loves video games and decides to invite Jack (Kyran Bowes) and Liam (Charlie Wrenshall) after school.
While setting up the game, Sam notices that the soccer game is useless because it doesn’t require any skill or strategy.
As Sam does his best to chat with Jack and Liam, it’s clear he finds things difficult. Picking up on the letters Sam wrote, Jack and Liam question him, but he struggles and changes the subject.
But what is he up to?
Could he try to contact a family member?
Or is it related to the return of Harvey Gaskell?
