Robert Williams single-handedly delayed the Boston Celtics’ game against the Denver Nuggets by about half an hour.

Williams caught a pass and threw an alley-oop midway through the fourth quarter of Boston’s 123-111 loss to the Nuggets at the Ball Arena on Sunday night, and clung to the edge a bit before landing on her feet .

That last part, it turned out, ruined the rim.

The officials quickly stopped the game to repair the rim, which proved difficult.

After more than 30 minutes, the officials finally managed to balance the rim so play could resume.

The break was not a total loss. Deandre Jordan managed to have a little fun with a young fan sitting pitchside.

The Nuggets, after leading most of the way, held a 110-97 lead when the game was delayed. They took the win on 12 points – the 10th of their last 12 – behind a triple-double of 30 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists from Nikola Jokic.

Williams finished with eight points and six rebounds off the bench for Boston, which kicked off a four-game road trip Sunday night. Jaylen Brown led the Celtics with 30 points and eight rebounds, and Jayson Tatum added 25 points while shooting 7 of 16 from the field.
