SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Freddie Freeman is a first-time 100-game winner, and he wants to rack up a lot more before these dominating Dodgers are finished.

Trayce Thompson hit a two-run homer to back up Julio Urías’ 17th win, and NL West champion Los Angeles beat the San Francisco Giants again with a 7-2 win on Saturday night to score the 10th 100-win season in franchise history and fourth in six years.

“I think it’s the first time I’ve done that — pretty cool,” said Freeman, who joined the Dodgers from defending World Series champion Braves on a six-year, $162 million deal this season. “It just means that we have a very good team and we still have more victories to come. … It’s special, when you come onto the pitch hoping to win every night and you have a very good chance of winning every night. With our pitchers and the way our offense has been going lately, it’s a really good feeling.

Justin Turner hit a pair of RBI singles among his three hits a day after hitting a career-high 35 doubles for the season.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts credits his club’s commitment to continuing to win 100 games year after year.

“Every team goes through hardships, but to have a consistent level of play to win 100 games at this stage is quite an achievement, so there are a lot of people who deserve a lot of credit,” Roberts said. “It’s something we don’t take for granted.”

Urías (17-7) walked eight in six innings and improved to 4-1 against San Francisco this season. He allowed two runs on five hits a day after the Dodgers outscored the Giants 5-0 on Friday night.

Urías could still have enough starts to reach 20 wins again this season, although he insists that “whatever the team asks, my mentality is positive”.

Los Angeles (100-44) had 13 more hits after getting nine in Game 1 of the series and needed the fewest games to reach 100 wins since the Seattle Mariners in 2001 (100-40).

“I don’t know if you expect to get 100 wins, I think you expect to be in the playoffs and go further in the playoffs,” Freeman said. “Every year, as far back as I can remember, you have to go through the Dodgers if you want to win the World Series.”

Thompson hit his 11th homer against Sean Hjelle, then the Dodgers hit five straight singles against Hjelle (0-2) to start the third inning before Thompson walked.

Gavin Lux returned to the Los Angeles roster after being sidelined since Sept. 1 with back pain and went 0 for 4 with two strikeouts.

The rain forecast for Sunday could threaten the series finale. The contingency plan would be to play on the clubs’ mutual day off on September 26.

“I think everyone is hoping whatever it takes to get it so we don’t have to come back,” Roberts said.

PENCE HONORED

Fittingly, former Giants fan favorite and right fielder Hunter Pence arrived at the ballpark on a scooter as he was honored at a pre-game on-field ceremony as newest member of the team’s Wall of Fame, the 55th player to earn the recognition.

“That’s where I belong,” Pence said. “I was not the best player but I was wholeheartedly. Put your heart into it. »

Highlights of Pence’s nearly eight years and his two World Series championships with the Giants were shown on the big video screen.

“If I had one lesson it would be, don’t be afraid to fail,” Pence told the crowd.
