Republican Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake thinks she knows why incumbent Rep. Liz Cheney and the media like to target her — she’s a truth-teller and therefore a threat.
“I’m telling the truth… We can’t talk about all these issues because the media told us they were banned,” Lake said on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” on Monday. “You can’t talk about vaccines. You can’t talk about elections. You can’t talk about Paul Pelosi now. You can’t talk about Nancy Pelosi, and you can’t talk about the election, and you can’ I’m not talking about COVID. And I’m talking about all of these things because I still believe we have a little bit of the First Amendment left.
“I’m dangerous to people like Liz Cheney and the people she hangs out with and they want to arrest people like me,” Lake added.
Cheney, who will leave Congress after losing her primary to attorney Harriet Hageman, recently said she never voted for a Democrat but would vote for Lake’s opponent, Katie Hobbs, if she lived in Arizona.

Lake told Fox News that Cheney coincidentally — albeit unintentionally — became his campaign’s top fundraiser to date, as the governor’s hopeful’s coffers swelled after the daughter of the former vice president sued her.

“I have to say a big thank you to Liz. And at this rate, we might have to invite her to our inaugural ball because we’re going to have to thank her for bringing so much money for us.” Lake joked to welcome Tucker Carlson
Asked about the hammer attack on Paul Pelosi, allegedly by 42-year-old David DePape, Lake said it seemed taboo to identify the suspect as an illegal immigrant.

While DePape has overstayed a visa from his native Canada, Lake said the problem of illegal immigration is a major problem for Arizonans worried about securing their own southern border.
“Journalists never even ask that because it proves that having a wide open border means more crime, a higher incidence of crime for American citizens. And that’s what we see here in Arizona,” she said.
“And you talked about the homeless man (DePape) who was found half-naked in Pelosi’s house. That’s why Republicans have ideas to stop these problems. I have a homeless policy. The press doesn’t want to talk about it. I have a policy to work towards ending chronic homelessness on the streets, getting people out, helping them off the streets, and restoring a quality of life for hard working people in Arizona.”
