Big fire breaks out at Hollywood Bowl after one-off concert

Trees caught fire at the Hollywood Bowl as people left after a “Sound of Music” song on Saturday night.

Los Angeles firefighters quickly arrived on the scene and rushed to put out a small cluster of palm trees that had caught fire. LAFD has asked the California Highway Patrol to close a lane of traffic.

LAFD wrote on Twitter that the site was not in danger and no injuries were reported. The department said the fire only involved vegetation.

“This somewhat stubborn fire near the @HollywoodBowl, our 1,423rd emergency of the day, fortunately involves only vegetation and has not reached the level of issuing an @LAFD ALERT,” LAFD wrote.

One viewer, Twitter user @ScotyAppleseed, told Fox News Digital: “I pray everyone is safe. [L]Lots of families with kids go to this singing event – ​​it was scary!”

The cause of the fire was not immediately known and attendees said flames appeared out of nowhere.

“I don’t know what caused it [because] as I was coming out it wasn’t burning or didn’t seem to be burning – I didn’t notice it until [I] walked by the hotels just south of the bowl,” @ScotyAppleseed told Fox News Digital, adding that “someone said it was near the tunnel so apparently across the street.”

“I did smell smoke on the subway though, so the smoke was spreading fast,” they said.

The viewer said they were able to see the entire show.

“Yeah it was a great night singing together, hopefully that’s the memory everyone can take home with them after tonight.”
