A large fire broke out near the Hollywood Bowl as spectators left the hall after a “Sound of Music” song on September 17.

User videos on the social media app Citizen showed firefighters rushing to put out palm trees that had burst into flames. LAFD also asked the California Highway Patrol to close a lane of traffic.

The LAFD has published an opinion on its

page after the fire was brought under control, writing, “This somewhat stubborn fire near the @HollywoodBowl, our 1,423rd emergency of the day, fortunately involves only vegetation.”

The cause of the fire is not immediately known.

A

who had been to the Saturday night concert wrote, “Leaving the Hollywood Bowl after Sing Along Sound of Music and a small group of palm trees were on fire. It burned quickly and was barely embers by the time people reached their cars in a piled parking lot. Meanwhile, the outgoing crowd sang Do Re Mi in the tunnel.

Another one

described what appeared to be a fire that happened without warning, writing: “The fire outside the Hollywood Bowl right now as we all leave the sound of music to sing it came out of nowhere hand – it wasn’t burning as we walked out of there literally just burned.

Bowl season is in full swing with Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominee Duran Duran, who recently completed a three-night run.

Last week, John Williams teased an excerpt from “Indiana Jones 5” during a concert at the Bowl.
