HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Eyewitness News tracked the movement of a storm front that had the potential to flood streets and cause tornadoes in southeast Texas on Tuesday afternoon.

Which precipitated, scene after scene, dangerous driving conditions, partially collapsed buildings and, on one occasion, outdoor facilities destroyed by projectile-like tree branches.

Trampoline vs tree branches

We were already aware of the potential for theft of outdoor objects, but the scene captured by Jess Torres could certainly surprise the viewer.

Torres’ backyard trampoline was suddenly damaged by a falling tree branch amid oncoming storms.

The footage, which you can see in the video player above, was taken near Wayside and Ley in northeast Houston.

First signs of an incoming destroyer

There were certainly warning signs of what was to come for folks closer to Houston.

Certainly, while the scene was spotted by ABC13 reporter Derrick Lewis late Tuesday morning, the damage at Eagle Lake, which is about an hour and a half west of town, was too much to report. ignore.

A tree was uprooted in a front yard.

Home owner Tony said he was watching TV in his living room with his wife when he heard a loud noise. It was then that he saw the tree fall and noticed that part of it had landed on the main road where his house is located.

“When I saw it, I was hoping nothing else was falling on the house,” Tony said.

There’s at least one other tree still standing in Tony’s garden, and he tells us things could have been much worse if either tree had fallen the other way.
