BOARDMAN, Ohio — The Boardman Police Department said Monday it will provide an update Tuesday on the investigation into the 1972 murder of 12-year-old Bradley Bellino.

Bellino’s body was found on April 4, 1972, in a dumpster behind Boardman Plaza. The murder shocked the community. Over the years, the case has been reopened and potential suspects have been identified, but no arrests have been made.

In 2018, DNA evidence was tested by a Virginia-based Parabon Nanolabs. The Boardman Township Board subsequently allocated funds to Parabon “to perform an instant genetic genealogy analysis of the DNA evidence,” according to The Boardman News.

The cold case was the subject of numerous press accounts. On January 12, 2022, an in-depth report by freelance writer Caroline Berardino was published on PorchLightOnline.org. CLICK HERE to read his report.

The press conference will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the Directors’ Conference Room of the Township Building. No further information will be released until then, Police Chief Todd Werth said, announcing the press event.
