BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – The Central Alabama Community Food Bank wants this holiday season to be hunger-free.

They run their annual Holiday Food Box program to feed 25,000 households in 12 counties.

Each holiday canister can feed a family of four for seven to 10 days and contains over 24 pounds of shelf stable food plus protein.

With inflation, rising gas prices and supply chain issues, the Food Bank expects more people to need extra help this year.

” Do not be shy. We’re here to help,” said interim chief executive Nicole Williams. “We call the people we serve our neighbors. Because it really could be our next door neighbor. We are here to serve our neighbors in need and want to make sure everyone has a great vacation.

The distribution of the 2022 boxes will begin this month.

Everything is on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last, and no ID or proof of income is required.
