KNOXVILLE, TN – The Tennessee men’s tennis team wrapped up a successful showdown in Knoxville on Sunday, racking up 25 wins overall over the four-day event.

The Vols’ pair of Day 4 wins came on the doubles court Sunday morning. UT’s sophomore couple Shunsuke Mitsui and graduate student Thomas Rodriguez defeated Nic Meister/Kenta Miyoshi of Illinois 6-1. The duo won the first five games of the match en route to victory.

Soon followed another doubles victory, this time by graduate students Emile Hudd and Kent Hunter. The victory, in the duo’s first action together in Tennessee, was won by Oliver Okonkwo/Mathis Debru of Illinois, 6-2. Hudd and Hunter broke the Illinois pair early on, before taking a double break at 3-0. After a deuce at 4-2, the Vols clawed back a pair of breaks before Hunter served up the win.
