EVERMAN, Texas — The looming threat during a homecoming game at Everman High School resulted in three arrests.

Everman High’s Friday Night Night Lights were underway when a “credible and imminent threat” raised concerns within the community. The local police were informed that an individual was going to the match with the intention of using a firearm that he had purchased the same day.

According to an email sent to parents by the school district, the suspects targeted an Everman student who was attending the game.

Police then spotted a vehicle matching the description heading towards the football game. An AR pistol and a 60-round magazine were found in the vehicle. The suspects were arrested shortly after authorities received the tip. Three teenagers have been arrested and face charges of unlawfully carrying a firearm in a prohibited place. They are currently being held by the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a statement from Everman Emergency Services, “It is obvious that this individual was coming to do harm. The quick thinking and action of the Tarrant County Deputy who shared the information and the attentiveness and responsiveness of the officers who made the stop saved countless lives tonight. Their actions prevented any kind of incident during the match.

The match went on as scheduled and Everman defeated Joshua High School 48-7.

Everman Emergency Services detailed the night’s events in a Facebook post:
