EVCO Holdings, LLC announced Thursday that after extensive research, it has reached preliminary agreement to purchase the former Mason City building for its new manufacturing and assembly project.

The project is pending completion of due diligence and state approvals according to a North Iowa Corridor press release. The company aims to create up to 100 jobs in its first five years according to chief financial officer Kurt Malcore.

“Mason City is an attractive location for our new operations,” Malcore said in a statement. “We were delighted to find a facility that met our needs in a community with a high quality of life and close to our main partners and markets. We greatly appreciate the assistance of EDC Iowa Northern Corridor and the City of Mason City as we worked through the process.

Minnesota-based EVCO Holdings, LLC is a new company that will create diverse product lines in the growing recreational electric vehicle market. This will include Streetrod golf cars and various EV core products and components.

The project will be presented to Mason City Council on September 6 for consideration of support society support for the society’s high quality jobs funding application with IEDA which will be considered later this month. The Town of Mason City is working on the final terms of a development agreement with EVCO that will be presented to the City Council at an upcoming meeting.
