Will Ospreay and Kenny Omega’s war ‘isn’t far over’

It didn’t really involve either of their home promotions, but Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay built a feud online for months, if not years. It’s enough that Kevin Nash recently got involved.

The ever-results-oriented WWE Hall of Famer responded to a tweet saying Ospreay had more five-star Wrestling Observer matches last month than CM Punk, Kurt Angle and John Cena had in their careers with a question. The Aerial Assassin reacted with an old Big Sexy joke:

Kenny knows how to speak both critically and at the box office:

AEW and New Japan are now on board, and what started when Omega & The Young Bucks beat Ospreay & Aussie Open in the Trios Championship Tournament last night (August 31) on dynamite looks likely to end with Ospreay & Omega’s second singles match at Fight Kingdom 17 next January. The forbidden door is rumored to be open wide enough for a major AEW star to work at NJPW’s Tokyo Dome extravaganza in 2023, and the prodigal son returning to face the man trying to fill his boots as the the company’s big gaijin star is a big money game.

This is the one that continued after the Chicagoland TV show ended last night. Kenny was doing his final post-Dynamite promo when the young Brit and his United Empire pals attacked The Elite. They targeted Omega’s wounds, but the Young Bucks fought back to stop Kenny’s neck from being Pillmanized via a Hidden Blade.

However, the whole trio still got their asses kicked. And The Cleaner took a hidden blade, just without the steel chair. Will began his trash talk with, “It’s not far over, Ken.”

He seems to think he’s had the last laugh, but something tells me that Kenneth By Gawd Omega will now be the one to say it’s not over.

Let us know if you’re in a rush for more Omega vs. Ospreay, and if you think we’re right, it’s happening in the Dome on January 4, 2023. And check out the rest of last night’s highlights dynamite. As usual, AEW is slowly distributing YouTube videos. But we’ve compiled what they posted this morning into a playlist and tried to catch you up with the rest of the episode via Twitter clips below.

  • Jon Moxley presents an open challenge for the AEW World Championship
  • CM Punk sends Chicago into a frenzy when he accepts Moxley’s open challenge
  • The Elite strike their ticket to all for the AEW Trios Tournament Finals
