Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, has shared a meaningful message following the death of her close friend and former mother-in-law.
Ferguson, who was married to the Queen’s son Prince Andrew, posted a statement on her Twitter account expressing her grief.
“She leaves behind an extraordinary legacy: the most fantastic example of duty, service and steadfastness, and a consistent and consistent presence as head of state for over 70 years,” Ferguson wrote.
She also noted that the Queen “gave her whole life selflessly to the people of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth”, before discussing how close the two were and how much the Queen meant to her.

Over the years, Fergie has honored the Queen with a special gesture: a deep bow. At events like Royal Ascot, the Duchess of York would greet the Queen with a curtsey and also sit next to her in the royal box.
In 2021, Ferguson expressed his gratitude to the Queen by appearing on an episode of the ‘Tea with Twiggy’ podcast, calling the 70-year-old monarch her “biggest mentor” and the “person who believes in me”.
